Nets – 2012 #1

Comrades of the SCC – It had to start sometime and so it has…  NETS!

Thursday 3rd May 2012

18:00 – 20:00

This Thursday, join us at the The Hub, Regent’s Park for two hours of net training and socialising and bloody good time-having. The price for the session will be split between all attendee comrades plus £1.00 so the more the merrier!

If you have bat, pads and gloves, do bring them, but we do have some club kit too. Or, nip down to Lillywhites and buy some there – cheap and cheerful! We shall have fun, whatever!

Very often there is a risk of a beer afterwards – apologies in advance, comrades. It is a risk of the game that socialising may be required. But we face these terrible occurrences as best we can.

See you there!

Yuri

Nets 1: We came, we saw, we hurt!

Rob Running up

It has happened. The 2011 season has commenced with a Nets and fielding session. I know that you all had good reasons for not being there and it’s cool and some of you were lovely enough to say you weren’t coming and i love you all for it, comrades. However, thanks to my fellow attendees, Dan March, Charlie Richards and fellow founder member, Rob Dixon, we put a good show on at Paddington Rec.

Phil Bowls

This was a new venue for us all as last year we Netted (?) at Regent’s Park Hub. I think we may well split it a bit this year between there and Paddington. The latter has lights and all and everything! They seem a bit wider too which i felt induced me to swing out a bit more. That and the new shorter Harrow handled bat that i am wielding! You can’t see it in my shot but Dan is smacking a ball hard with it below.

Dan Pulls

Dan is of the finest Media Acting fraternity and regularly appears with his comedy gang: The Real MacGuffins However, there was no comedy on Wednesday, it was hot, sweaty and fast. Get in, son!

Rob Bowling

Rob accompanied me to the nets and he is barely off the back of a variety of 3D projects for us here at Pogo. Despite me having told him there was months ahead to be spent in an edit suite staring at Victorian photographs, he still was happy to Net-Up  – Fine man – good comrade! I am so moved i have to include another Thumbnail.

Charlie delivers

I am very impressed by the steady and reliable bat of Charlie. Another of our media acting fraternity and seen below delivering another good length ball. Watch out in the field, he has a good pair of hands and can pick up well in the slips i think!

We moved out from the nets and seven and then hurt each other horribly by various ball chucking exercises and sometimes catching too. Some small bruises. Must lose that fear and face the ball. Ouch!

More nets soon. May be last minute so watch out for a blog!

Your comrade in Administerdom, Yuri.

Well oiled – Update for Date with Quantel

Linseed, mmmmm

I am oiling my bat. The news so far…

Quantel want a re-match, all on them again. That is, they pay for our accommodation too and a big food fest – we must them a nice present!!! A Friday in JULY [correction from initial post, sorry!] – so i am aiming for towards the last two weeks. Let me know which Friday works for you. Don’t forget that last year was bloody fab and great fun too. Forgetting the score of course.

There will be a match versus the Headingly Old Boys, away. Still fixing this for August i hope. Then we can hopefully wrap with a match in Sussex in September with some lovely folk i met in Cannes last week.

NETS this week will have to be Wednesday with some warm up before. I shall phone and organise that tomorrow morning.

I love you all, but i love the field even more. Let’s get a bit more serious please and start communicat8ing. I shall be asking some of you to become Commissars soon and be in charge of a small band of us each. That way, we can disseminate information quickly. Please let me know if you are keen, else i shall be on you this week.

Bon chance, le Cricket, comrades.
